Hong Kong Island Events - January 2027
January on the island is four race nights, then the marathon, then the flower fair. The 10km finishes in Victoria Park on 17 January and the Lunar New Year fair opens in the same park on the last day of the month; in between, the Happy Wednesday season runs four Wednesday nights at Happy Valley and the financial forum opens at the HKCEC. Dates, venues and prices were last checked on 8 November 2026 against the organiser, the government listing or the tourism board.
Part of the Hong Kong Island Events Calendar 2027. Previous month: Hong Kong Island events in December 2026. Next month: Hong Kong Island events in February 2027.

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2027
Sunday 17 January 2027 for the main races; Saturday 16 January for the 5km Harbourfront Run and the Youth Run · the 10km comes down the Island Eastern Corridor and finishes at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay; the marathon and half-marathon start on Nathan Road
Entry: Places are closed for runners; free to watch from the street.
Why go: The biggest sporting fixture of the island year, and the one day the Eastern Corridor is a race track. The Causeway Bay and Wan Chai stretches and the Victoria Park finish are where the crowds gather. A record 78,000 places were offered across the main races this year, and the new 5km Harbourfront Run on the Saturday starts at Kai Tak Sports Park and finishes at Shing Kai Road Garden.
Verified against the Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates release of 4 September 2026 (Sunday 17 January, the 78,000 quota, the 5km on Saturday 16 January with a 3,000 quota, Kai Tak start and Shing Kai Road Garden finish) and RTHK plus Brand Hong Kong, which confirm the date and name the Island Eastern Corridor and Victoria Park for the 10km.

Happy Wednesday - Winter Wonderland into Blossom Nights
Wednesdays 6, 13, 20 and 27 January 2027, from 6pm · Happy Valley Racecourse, Happy Valley
Entry: HK$10 for the public enclosure; free for visitors on a valid travel document.
Why go: Four Wednesday nights on the trot: Winter Wonderland through 20 January, then Blossom Nights on the 27th. Same HK$10 gate, same floodlit track, and the cheapest evening in the month that is not free. The 27th is the first night of the spring theme, so it is the one to pick if you have seen the Christmas lights already.
Verified against the Hong Kong Tourism Board event page (6, 13 and 20 January 2027, 6pm, HK$10 enclosure, free for visitors) and the Jockey Club's racecourse events calendar plus the fixture list, which supply the fourth night, 27 January - printed there as Happy Wednesday Blossom Nights. No theme description or special start time is printed for Blossom Nights, because none is published.

Asian Financial Forum 2027
Tuesday 26 - Wednesday 27 January 2027 · Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Expo Drive, Wan Chai
Deal-making Hall 5E: 11:00-18:00 on the 26th, 09:00-18:00 on the 27th
Entry: Delegate-registered - not open to the general public.
Why go: Two decades of the forum in 2027, and the week Wan Chai belongs to finance: the HKCEC halls, the hotel rates and the restaurant bookings all move with it. Worth knowing about even if you cannot get in, because it is the reason to book a Wan Chai table that week in advance.
Verified against the forum's own site (26-27 January 2027, Tuesday and Wednesday, HKCEC, and the "two decades" wording) and the deal-making sub-site for the Hall 5E hours; the Hong Kong Tourism Board PartnerNet listing gives the same dates and venue. No fee or public day is printed, because the forum is delegate-registered.
