Hong Kong Island Events - February 2027

February 2027 is Lunar New Year on the island: the fair burns out in the early hours of the 6th, the night parade crosses the harbour the same evening, the fireworks go up over the harbour on the 7th, the race nights run on to the 24th, and the arts festival opens with Bruce Liu and the Orchestre symphonique de Montreal on the 18th. Dates, venues and ticket prices were last checked on 8 November 2026 against the organiser and a second independent publisher.

Part of the Hong Kong Island Events Calendar 2027. Previous month: Hong Kong Island events in January 2027.

Dated events in February 2027

Happy Wednesday - Blossom Nights and Neon Nights

Wednesday 3 February and Thursday 11 February (Blossom Nights); Wednesday 17 February and Wednesday 24 February (Neon Nights) 2027 · Happy Valley Racecourse, Happy Valley

Entry: HK$10 for the public enclosure; free for visitors on a valid travel document.

Why go: Four race nights around the lunar holiday - two under the Blossom Nights banner and two under Neon Nights. Note the second date is a Thursday rather than a Wednesday.

Verified against the Jockey Club's racecourse events calendar (Feb 03 and Feb 11 Blossom Nights; Feb 17 and Feb 24 Neon Nights) and the fixture list, which independently confirms Happy Valley meetings on those four dates, including the Thursday. This is the Jockey Club's own calendaring only - the Tourism Board publishes no Happy Wednesday page for the February themes, so these four dates have one publisher, not two. No theme description or start time is printed, because neither is published.

Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade

Saturday 6 February 2027, in the evening · Tsim Sha Tsui, across the harbour - the route runs on Canton Road, Haiphong Road and Nathan Road

Entry: Free to watch from the street.

Why go: The one entry on this page that is not on the island, and it is here because it is the same lunar weekend: the floats come out on Lunar New Year's Day itself, a Star Ferry ride across the harbour from Central. No start time is published - the organisers have not printed one.

Verified against the Tourism Board's tender notice for the 2027 parade (6 February 2027, the first day of the Lunar New Year, in Tsim Sha Tsui, with festive performances on 7-8 February) and its Chinese New Year page, which names the Tsim Sha Tsui streets. The date is Saturday. No second publisher carries the parade at publisher level, and no organiser or Tourism Board page prints a start time, so none is printed here.

Chinese New Year Fireworks Display

Sunday 7 February 2027; no start time is published · Victoria Harbour - the Wan Chai and Causeway Bay waterfront is the island-side view

Entry: Free to watch from the harbourfront.

Why go: The lunar fireworks over the harbour, on the second day of the new year. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department is the body that runs the display and it published the date in September 2026; the start time, which circulates on aggregator sites, is not on any organiser page, so plan an evening rather than an hour.

Verified against the LCSD press release of 7 September 2026, "Sponsors sought for 2027 Chinese New Year Fireworks Display", which prints "The fireworks display will be held on February 7, 2027 (Sunday)". 7 February 2027 is a Sunday, and it is Lunar New Year day two. The 8pm start printed elsewhere is aggregator copy and is not repeated.

55th Hong Kong Arts Festival - opening night: Bruce Liu with the Orchestre symphonique de Montreal

Thursday 18 February 2027, 20:00-22:10 · Concert Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui

Entry: HK$320-820 full price; HK$160-310 for full-time local students.

Why go: The festival's opening night: Rafael Payare conducts Ye Xiaogang, Rachmaninov's second piano concerto with Bruce Liu, and Shostakovich's eighth symphony. It is across the harbour at the Cultural Centre rather than on the island, but it is the season's first night and the one concert in February worth crossing for. The festival itself runs from 18 February into late March.

Verified against the Hong Kong Arts Festival programme page, whose own event data gives 18 February 2027, 20:00-22:10 Hong Kong time, the Cultural Centre Concert Hall, the programme and the two price bands ($820/$720/$620/$520/$420/$320 full price; $310/$260/$210/$160 full-time local student); art-mate, the festival's own ticketing platform, prints the same date. One aggregator listing carries a 22:30 end time and a single blended $160-$820 range; neither is printed here. The season end date is not published by the festival, so this page says late March.

Running through February

Two runs overlap this month. Each is listed once in full, on its own year hub, and neither is restated as a row here:

  • AIA Carnival 2026/27 - closes at the Central Harbourfront on 21 February 2027. It opened on 22 December 2026 and runs 62 days, so February is its last full month. See the runs and seasons section of the 2026 hub.
  • 55th Hong Kong Arts Festival - opens on 18 February 2027 and runs into late March. The festival has not published a closing date, so none is printed here; the opening night is the row above. See the runs and seasons section of the 2027 hub.

Public holidays: Lunar New Year's Day falls on Saturday 6 February 2027, with general holidays on 6, 8 and 9 February (the 7th is a Sunday).

Take the dates with you

This page and the February 2027 calendar feed (.ics) are two views of the same four entries - subscribe once and the dates land in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. The harbourfront viewing spots for the fireworks are covered in Central and the business district, and the cross-harbour ferries in how to get around.

The rest of the year: Hong Kong Island Events Calendar 2027 carries March onwards, including the Flower Show and Art Basel.

Food and dining

From the with everything from street foods in to Michelin Star dining just in the Central business district alone, and with fresh seafood in Aberdeen beside the harbour while Japanese snacks and foods are to be found in Causeway Bay, and of course Dim Sum everywhere, there is no one "Hong Kong island food" as such, but there are certainly highlights and things not to be missed.

Here then are some of those choices, from the well known to the obscure, from 5 star hotels to off the beaten track delights, try some of these then strike out on your own and try something you haven't tried before!
